Periodontal Treatment

Approximately 94.5% of Malaysian adults experience gum health issues, with the prevalence rising to an alarming 96% among adults aged 35 to 44. Even more concerning, 38.2% of Malaysian adults are affected by periodontitis, a serious form of gum disease that can lead to tooth loss if left untreated

What's Periodontitis (Periodontal Disease)

Periodontal disease encompasses a range of gum diseases, from gingivitis to periodontitis, caused by bacteria in dental plaque. If plaque is not removed regularly, it leads to gingivitis—characterized by red, swollen gums—which can be reversed with proper oral care and professional cleaning. Without treatment, gingivitis can progress to periodontitis, where bacteria multiply and produce toxins, resulting in bone and tissue destruction, potentially leading to tooth loss. Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory condition requiring ongoing treatment and management.
Risk factors for periodontitis include age, stress, genetics, smoking, and systemic diseases. Symptoms may not always include bleeding or pain, making yearly periodontal examinations essential for early detection and prevention.

Our Services

Scaling & Root Planing

Scaling and Root Planing treats early periodontal disease by removing plaque, calculus, and bacteria, promoting tissue reattachment and reducing pockets. The procedure requires a few sessions with minimal discomfort.

Crown Lengthening

Functional Crown Lengthening exposes more of a tooth by removing a small portion of gum and bone, allowing for proper repair when cavities, cracks, or breaks extend below the gum line. This procedure helps save the tooth and ensures better restoration.

Cosmetic Crown Lengthening corrects gummy smiles by removing excess gum tissue and contouring the bone to expose more of the natural teeth. This creates a more balanced, attractive smile with same-day, painless results.

Peri-implantitis Management

Peri-Implant Disease is avoidable and treatable if detected early. Early diagnosis can help save an infected implant and regenerate lost bone and tissue. Treatment typically involves surgical debridement, disinfection, bone and gum regeneration, antibiotics, deep cleaning, or laser therapy.

Guided Bone Regeneration

Guided Bone Regeneration (GTR) is an advanced procedure for treating gum disease and preparing the jaw for dental implants. As gum disease progresses, bone pockets form, promoting bacterial growth and infection. During GTR, the pockets are cleaned, and a membrane is placed to block soft tissue, allowing the bone to regenerate. Depending on the membrane type, it may be bio-absorbable or require later removal. This technique helps stabilize teeth and supports future implant placement.

Gum Tissue Grafting is used to treat receding gums, which can lead to tooth sensitivity, looseness, or even tooth loss if untreated. The procedure involves placing tissue from the roof of the mouth or a donor to restore and strengthen the gum line, protecting against further recession. While mild recession (1-2mm) may not require treatment, grafting is recommended when recession exceeds 2mm to maintain oral health and enhance the smile, especially for front teeth.
